During Spanish Colonial Times, this road pictured in Tucson, was part of the Camino Real or Calle Real, aka The Royal Road! It meandered its way all the way back to Mexico City. When it reached Tucson something strategically important happened, it ventured west to California! This made the Tucson Presidio strategically important to protect the route!
