Hear the historic stories, fascinating tales and my interesting tidbits of Tucson History on a guided Tucson Walking Tour with Scott, your Tour Guide, from Strolls and Stories Tours! I love a good story...and I love the art of telling the story! I have researched out the history of Tucson, spending many hours at the Arizona Historical Society digging through files on topics in Downtown Tucson, plus the Barrio Viejo and El Presidio neighborhoods.
I then spent time walking the routes to piece together the history and stories in mostly chronological order so that the stories build upon one another starting with Tucson's founding as a Spanish Colonial Presidio in 1775, and a discussion of our 4,000 years of Native American History. We then hear the tales of our Pioneer Founders, life in the Barrio, and our early Business Leaders bringing us up to the early 1900s...we then learn of the Dillinger Gang's Capture in Tucson in 1934, stories that take place on Church Plaza, and hear of the Mid Century Downtown Shopping Scene the descendants of our Pioneering Merchant Families created in the 1950s and 1960s...it's quite the tale!
All throughout the tour, as I share the stories of some of our Pioneer Families and the history of our architecture, I paint the picture of what life in Tucson was like historically, bringing it to life! At the end of the tour many people say its as if I was talking about my own family members...well, I do sort of feel they are family...I have spent so much time researching out some of them! I also do really get into the stories with a fun enthusiastic way of sharing the historic tales of Tucson!
